The Kansas Sports Hall of Fame has announced its’ first annual Amateur Sports Photography Contest open to all Kansas residents considered to be amateur photographers.

Contestants may compete in one of three divisions: Middle School (Grades 6

th- 8th), High School (Grades 9th - 12th), or the Open division. Each Division will include two categories of competition: Action Photos and Spirit Photos. Contestants may enter up to two photographs in each category. The photographs entered in the contest must be varsity game action or spirit taken during the 2011 – 2012 school year and representing Kansas educational institutions from junior high school through college and university levels. All entry forms and photos must be submitted by June 5, 2012.

“It’s a great chance for individuals to support Kansas school’s varsity sports teams and to showcase their photography talent,” said Laura Hartley of the Kansas Sports Hall of Fame. “It’s also an ideal opportunity for high school and junior high yearbook staff and journalism students to promote their school and to be recognized for outstanding photography.”

Winning entries will be posted on Hall of Fame website, displayed at the Kansas Sports Museum, and published in Hall of Fame publications. Additional prizes will be announced in the future.

Entry forms and a complete set of rules may be downloaded from

www.kshof.org or may be picked up at the Kansas Sports Hall of Fame (at the Wichita Boathouse), or at the Kansas Sports Museum in Newton in the Chisholm Trail Center.
